It’s been a long time coming - but shipping is finally underway and many thousands of MAGFAST Hello Kits will ship in 2022.
If you already have your shipping batch, this article will let you know what it means and what to expect.
If you don’t yet have a shipping batch allocation, please read on to find out everything you need to know about when and how you will receive yours.
1. What’s happening? Is production underway?
After a short manufacturing hold to allow us to fix an important problem introduced by the circular magnets on Apple’s new MagSafe chargers, production is scheduled to restart very soon. This article will be updated as soon as the production lines are running again.
Many tens of thousands of pre-orders have been placed, and it will take us time to manufacture and ship all of them. It’s very likely that we won’t be able to ship all pre-orders in 2022, but we will keep you informed on progress and we will be able to predict with increasing precision exactly when your pre-order will ship.
We anticipate that the major question mark is going to be forest green, which will be manufactured after alpine white. If you’re one of the people waiting for forest green, you might like to consider a switch to alpine white before we allocate all the shipping batches. There’s information further down in this article on how to do this.
2. Which products will I receive in my batch?
Pro Kit pre-orders are receiving priority. If you pre-ordered a Pro Kit in alpine white, you will have your shipping batch soon (see below for the latest on batch allocation), and you will receive your pre-order in two phases:
(1) You will first receive a Hello Kit: MAGFAST Extreme, Life and Air.
(2) The remainder of your Pro Kit (Wall, Road) and any other additions you pre-ordered will be shipped at a future date.
3. What about shipping costs and sales tax?
Shipping within the continental United States is, in most cases, free. Sales tax varies by state and exactly where you live; we will contact you to collect sales tax immediately before we ship your order.
Shipping outside the U.S. is charged at cost. Please remember that the carrier that delivers your order will also collect any customs duties. Because duties and taxes vary significantly between countries and provinces (Quebec, for example, has a different rate from Toronto) we can’t tell you exactly how much the authorities in your country will charge - but we will publish what we learn on at MAGFAST.com/status so you have a good idea what to expect.
4. How do I know if I’ve received a shipping batch notification?
Yes, it is possible that you have already been sent a notification but haven’t spotted it. Because batch allocations are sent out by our system, sometimes in very large numbers, it’s possible for them to go to spam or the Promotions tab in GMail.
Take a moment to check whether you have an email from us with the subject line “MAGFAST Shipping Batch Allocation”. If you were in one of the earliest batches, those emails were titled “Allocation of Batch Number for Shipping.”
If you have more than one email address, please also verify that we have the correct one in our system. You can view and, if necessary, update your address and other details in your MAGFAST account by clicking here. Please use the opportunity to check that we have the correct shipping address for you. 5. Which pre-orders are being allocated batch numbers?
Every single pre-order we have received will be allocated a shipping batch.
The logistics of shipping in large volume is our next major challenge, albeit an exciting one. Because of the sheer volume of pre-orders, shipping batches cannot be allocated individually, so they are allocated and managed by our system.
The most important factor in batch allocation is when you pre-ordered: pre-orders from 2017 get priority over 2018, and so forth. It’s not the only factor, however, and sometimes there are special circumstances why some supporters might receive priority. For example, some of the earliest batch allocations went to people who were very seriously ill. There are other special-need considerations. And, on the other side of the same coin, there are people who for one reason or another don’t respond to our emails and are difficult to track down.
Our intent is always to be as fair as we can, and it’s inevitable that we will sometimes make suboptimal choices.
It is also important to know that we received a huge number of pre-orders in the first 24-72 hours back in 2017. Fulfilling all the pre-orders from the first days and weeks will take disproportionately longer than the rest of 2017 and early 2018.
6. When can I expect to receive my batch allocation?
If you don’t yet have an allocation, you will have one in the next few months, at latest. Once we have reached a reliable rate of production and shipping we will publish a link for batch allocation; we ask for your continuing patience meanwhile. This article will also be updated at intervals to include the latest information.
7. How do I change from forest green to alpine white?
In case you’ve missed this news elsewhere, forest green Hello Kits and Pro Kits will be manufactured after alpine white. If you’d rather avoid the extra wait for forest green, we can switch your pre-order to alpine white. Just email us at hello@MAGFAST.com with an email titled ‘Switch pre-order to alpine white’. Please include as much information as you can, ideally including your original pre-order number.
If you’re not sure about the color of your Pro Kit, please visit your MAGFAST account at MAGFAST.com/log-me-in and sign in with the email address you used to pre-order your MAGFAST products. To view your pre-order, please click the ‘MY PRE-ORDERS’ tab in your account.
8. I pre-ordered individual products or a free Wall. When can I expect to receive my batch allocation?
Pre-orders for individual products will be processed after the alpine white Pro Kit shipments have shipped. Batch numbers for these pre-orders are not yet assigned and we ask for a little more patience.
MAGFAST Wall is slated for later release: Wall is a mains-powered device - you plug it into an outlet on your wall at home or in your office - and for this reason, it’s subject to different testing protocols and certifications than the rest of the family.
We currently expect Wall to be the last product in the family to ship. Once receive a confirmed release date for MAGFAST Wall, we'll be able to start allocating batch numbers.
9. I pre-ordered MAGFAST Pro Kit(s) in 2017 on a six month payment plan and I still haven’t received my shipping batch
If you pre-ordered your Pro Kit(s) in alpine white in 2017 and you still don’t have your shipping batch number please email customer care at Hello@MAGFAST.com. It could be that your payment plan has not been completed or there was an issue with one of your payments and your account has been put on hold. Rest assured, your pre-order is still in our system and we will help you complete your payment plan. Please note that we cannot ship your items until your payment plan is complete.
10. I received my shipping batch - how can I determine my shipping date?
Easy! If you have received your shipping batch allocation, all you need to do is visit MAGFAST.com/status and check out our shipping table with your shipping batch and dates. And please make sure you are checking your inbox for emails from MAGFAST. We’ve been very diligent in communicating updates to everyone in this group. Nevertheless, if you need any assistance with your pre-order please contact customer care.
11. I don’t want to receive my Pro Kit in two separate shipments. How can I request delivery in a single shipment?
Before we send you your package you will receive a confirmation email. This is the point at which you will pay sales tax and confirm your shipping information. You will be able to schedule a single shipment for your Pro Kit at that time.
12. I have received my shipping batch number and want to order more products - how can I do that? Will those be shipped to me at the same time?
Many of our supporters are asking about this - thank you! Yes, we encourage you to take advantage of special pre-order pricing and your status as one of our early supporters.
Please note, you may get a special deal to pre-order individual products although it’s likely we won’t be able to ship extra individual products at the time of your first shipment. However, once we’re at volume production, we will be able to fulfill your order for additional Hello Kits in alpine white immediately.
